PSSR Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities
The STCW basic training course is a mandatory training program for those working on board commercial ships. STCW stands for "Standard of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping" and the course is designed to provide the fundamental skills necessary to ensure safety and survival on board. The course is divided into different sections, including: Personal safety and responsibilities, Fire prevention and firefighting, Survival and rescue, Safety at sea. The course lasts 18 hours spread over 3 days where all potentially dangerous operations on board, the structure of the ship, and the current international regulations are explained.
